Rivers United head coach Finidi George, has admitted that complacency played a major role in his side’s disappointing performance against G12 FC in their latest friendly encounter.
Finidi George seems to be unhappy with how his team played, they did not keep up the energy throughout the game. Even though his team was expected to win they did not. Finidi George said his players thought they would win because of their name.
The coach said his team started well, they got less focused as the game went on— Some players did not do what he told them to do and others could not match how hard G12 FC players worked.
The former Super Eagles star said you cannot win just because you are a team, Finidi said smaller teams are now better organized because they work hard, and the want to win when they play against big teams.
He said this loss should teach his team a lesson for them to know that they need to be more careful as they finish the season.
The coach also said his team needs to be more disciplined, they need to focus, because if they are not careful their dreams of winning will be hurt.
Finidi George is hopeful that his team will get better and they will look at what went wrong and fix it before their game. Notwithstanding, Rivers United has done well this season. though their loss to G12 FC has worried the fans, because they expect more from a team like Rivers United.
