Nollywood actress and producer Sandra Okunzuwa shared how her former boyfriend ended their relationship after he received a video clip of her kissing a male actor in a movie.
The actress made the revelation during a recent episode of the BTS Reality podcast. She explained that someone sent the movie scene to her ex-boyfriend, which led to the breakup.
Okunzuwa described her ex as insecure for reacting in that way and pointed out that actors do not enjoy kissing scenes on set.
“When actors kiss while filming, about 20 people watch them. Directors give instructions throughout the process. They even turn off the air conditioner. No one feels turned on in such an environment,” she said.
She added that on-screen kisses are not pleasurable. She supports removing romantic scenes from movies if it does not affect viewers’ enjoyment. She noted that such scenes often create problems in actors’ personal lives because partners sometimes feel jealous.
“I once lost a relationship because someone sent my ex-boyfriend a scene from a movie where I kissed an actor,” she stated. “At the time, I felt his reaction came from insecurity. But honestly, it is not easy. I understand why some people say they cannot date actors. Everyone must choose what they can accept in a partner.”
The movie star urged the public to remember that actors only play characters on screen and do not act as their real selves. She stressed the need for actors to keep their private lives separate from their professional work.
Okunzuwa’s comments highlight the challenges many performers face in balancing career demands with personal relationships in the Nigerian film industry
