Nigeria Tennis Federation Rallies Behind Adeleye After Family Tragedy

The Nigeria Tennis Federation has extended heartfelt condolences to Nigeria’s top-ranked tennis player, Daniel Adeleye, following the passing of his father.

In an emotional statement, the federation expressed deep sympathy for Adeleye and his family, describing the moment as an incredibly difficult period—coming less than two years after the loss of his mother.

“Our thoughts are with Daniel Adeleye, who lost his dad a few days ago, barely two years after the demise of his mum.

We pray that God consoles the family and gives them the strength to bear this painful loss at this time,” the statement read.

In a show of solidarity, the federation added a personal message of encouragement, saying, “We dey your side, Wizkid,” reflecting unity and support during the challenging time.

The tragic news comes shortly after Adeleye reached a significant milestone in his career, winning an international tournament organised by the Ivorian Tennis Federation.

His impressive performance also earned him the Most Outstanding Player award, further establishing him as one of Nigeria’s brightest tennis prospects.

Adeleye, who has also represented the country in the Davis Cup, now faces a personal challenge off the court.

The wave of support from the tennis community highlights not only his achievements but also the respect he commands among fans and peers.

As he navigates this period of grief, the thoughts of the sporting community remain firmly with him, offering strength and solidarity.
