Depleted Super Eagles Eye Jordan Scalp in Turkey Friendly

Nigeria national football team will look to build momentum despite missing key players when they face Jordan national football team in an international friendly on Tuesday evening in Antalya, Turkey.

The match comes just days after Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Iran national football team, while Jordan played out a 2-2 draw with Costa Rica national football team.

Historically, both sides are evenly matched, with one win each from their previous two meetings. Nigeria claimed a 2-0 victory in the 2004 LG Cup, while Jordan edged a 1-0 win in a 2013 friendly in Amman.

Currently ranked 64th in the FIFA rankings, Jordan will use the game as part of preparations for their historic debut at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

For Nigeria, the fixture offers Eric Chelle a chance to assess new talent after the Super Eagles missed out on automatic qualification. The squad will, however, be without several regulars, including Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Bruno Onyemaechi, and Maduka Okoye.

While injuries have ruled out Bassey, Ajayi, and Okoye, Onyemaechi was granted leave to attend the birth of his child.

Despite the absences, expectations remain high, with the friendly serving as a key opportunity to test new players and strengthen squad depth.

With confidence from their last outing, the Super Eagles will be aiming for another strong performance as they continue preparations for future competitions.
