‎NCC Introduces Platform To Curb SIM-Related Fraud

‎The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has unveiled plans to start a regulation called the Telecommunications Identity Risk Management System. It is a system meant to stop the misuse of SIM cards and enhance users’ safety while accessing digital services in Nigeria.

‎The NCC chairman, Aminu Maida, made this announcement in Abuja. He said that the Telecommunications Identity Risk Management System will aid in combating fraud related to phone numbers in Nigeria

‎The organisation says that mobile phone numbers are very important for things like banking and getting access to services. This also means that people can use these numbers in a bad way.

‎Aminu Maida said that some people are using recycled mobile phone numbers to commit fraud and steal people’s identities. This is making people less likely to trust services. He said that the Nigerian Communications Commission is starting the Telecommunications Identity Risk Management System to stop these things from happening.

‎The NCC says that the Telecoms Identity Risk Management System is a reliable way to manage risks that come with using mobile phone numbers in Nigeria. The system will also help companies check if a mobile phone number is real before they let someone use their services.

‎Mobile phone numbers are becoming very important for things like banking and getting government services, so the authorities are making rules to make sure that people are who they say they are and to stop fraud from happening. The Nigerian Communications Commission and the Telecommunications Identity Risk Management System are working to make the digital economy in Nigeria a safer place.
