The Rivers State Government has restated its strong commitment to advancing youth development across the state.
This assurance was given by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, who also serves as Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corps, during a meeting with the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Moses Oleghe, in Port Harcourt on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

Dr. Wokoma described the NYSC as a vital platform for shaping and mentoring young people into responsible future leaders. He further assured that the administration of Siminalayi Fubara will continue to support the scheme.

In his remarks, Mr. Oleghe outlined several ongoing state-funded projects to support the NYSC. These include the consistent payment of allowances to corps members, the provision of a vehicle for the zonal office, the construction of a new NYSC secretariat, and the development of new hostel facilities at the permanent orientation camp in Nonwa Gbam Tai.
