NCDMB, NLNG Partner to Empower Community Vendors in Oil and Gas

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is actively participating in a two-day training initiative organised by the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) aimed at empowering community-based vendors and deepening their involvement in the nation’s oil and gas industry.

The Community Vendors Training Programme, which kicked off on Monday, March 23, 2026, in Port Harcourt, seeks to build the technical, regulatory and financial competencies of local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to enable them compete effectively for opportunities in the sector.

On the opening day, facilitators provided a comprehensive overview of NLNG’s community development efforts, emphasising alignment with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act.

Opening remarks underscored the critical need for full compliance with local content policies, the promotion of Nigerian participation, and the fostering of long-term, sustainable partnerships with host communities.

Technical sessions focused on vital areas including Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards, ethics and anti-corruption practices, as well as core provisions of the NOGICD Act.

Participants received detailed guidance on obtaining the Nigerian Content Equipment Certificate (NCEC), registering on the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Joint Qualification System (NOGIC JQS), and accessing the Nigerian Content Development Fund (NCF).

A dedicated module on financial management equipped MSMEs with practical skills in budgeting, record-keeping and strategic planning. Trainers also highlighted avenues for funding, including support from commercial banks and the NLNG Cooperative Fund Microfinance Scheme.

Additionally, the programme addressed key obligations under the recently enacted Tax Reform Act, helping vendors understand their compliance responsibilities in the evolving fiscal landscape.

By the end of the sessions, attendees reported a stronger grasp of regulatory frameworks, safety protocols, ethical business conduct and sound financial practices. Organisers believe the training will significantly improve the vendors’ readiness to seize emerging opportunities within NLNG operations and the broader oil and gas value chain.

The second day of the programme is expected to feature further interactive sessions and practical case studies. Stakeholders view the initiative as a strategic step towards actualising the objectives of the NOGICD Act while promoting inclusive economic development in the Niger Delta region.
