Sundry Markets Limited (SML), owners of the popular Marketsquare stores, has reinforced its commitment to community welfare through its “Marketsquare Cares” initiative, delivering free medical services to residents of Yenagoa.
The outreach, held in the Bayelsa State capital, targeted underserved populations to improve healthcare access and outcomes. According to SML’s Head of Marketing, Emmanuel Isangediok, the programme reflects the company’s broader mission to support communities where it operates.
Executed in partnership with Pro-Health International, the initiative provided a wide range of services, including free medical consultations, surgeries, eye care, dental checks, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, and health education.
Managing Director and CEO of SML, Ebele Enunwa, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and impact of the outreach, noting the company’s long-standing connection with the city.

“Yenagoa has given us a lot. Our first store opened here in 2015, and this is our way of giving back to the people who supported us,” he said.
Enunwa also highlighted the role of customers in enabling such initiatives, explaining that patronage of Marketsquare stores provides the resources needed for the company to invest in social impact programmes.
In total, 3,772 residents benefited from the outreach, with more than 9,800 medical interventions carried out. These included general consultations, surgical procedures, eye treatments, dental care, laboratory tests, and health promotion activities.
SML has implemented similar outreach programmes in other cities such as Port Harcourt, Benin City, and Aba, reaching thousands of underserved individuals.
Through “Marketsquare Cares,” the company continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving lives, strengthening community ties, and expanding access to essential healthcare services across Nigeria.
