Chairman of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr Sam Ogeh, has debunked claims of approving the demolition of the dilapidated Odiokwu Community Secondary School in Ahoada West Local Government Area of the State.
Ogeh also condemned the assertion that the board had given a go ahead order to Mr Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan to reconstruct the school.
The UBE chairman made this clarification on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, where he condemned VDM’s attempted demolition of the school without approval.
Ogeh revealed that the visit by the board and the ministry of education to the school on Monday, was to ascertain its level of dilapidation as circulated on social media.
Odiokwu Community Secondary School came to limelight after Ogadinma Minnie recorded a video of the deployable condition of the school, calling for it’s immediate rehabilitation.

Minnie’s action led to her assault, allegedly by her then boss, the local government chairman, Mr Eugene Cheta Epelle.
VDM had visited the school last weekend with a bulldozer following the request of Nigeria popular musician Burna Boy, an indigene of Odiokwu, who expressed readiness to renovate the school.
Stating his disapproval, Oge said, “members of the board and ministry of education only visited the school on Monday after a video circulated on social media about the poor condition of the school.
“I didn’t give any approval for the demolition and it is not right for anybody to go and bring down somebody else’s property without the person’s consent.
“What we heard is that our school had been demolished so we went to visit to confirm the veracity from what we read from the social media.”
