The management of the Federal Technical College (FTC), Ahoada, has paid a familiarisation visit to the Natural Ruler of the Ancient Akoh Kingdom, His Majesty Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi, Eze Igbu-Akoh II.

The delegation, led by the Director/Principal of the college, Dr. Mrs. Mercy Adaramola, was received by the monarch at his Ihugbogo Palace in Igbu-Akoh, Ihugbogo Town, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Welcoming the team, Eze Ikegbidi commended the school management for the visit, describing it as timely and necessary for discussions on ways to further enhance the quality of education for children in the area. He expressed satisfaction with the level of development at the college, which he described as one of the best schools in the state.

The monarch stressed that education remains the bedrock of societal development and must be accorded priority attention. He assured the delegation of the support of the Akoh Council of Chiefs where necessary and offered prayers for wisdom and divine protection for the school management.

Earlier in her remarks, Dr. Adaramola said the visit was aimed at familiarising the college management with the traditional institution and seeking the royal blessings of the monarch as she continues to discharge her duties as a civil servant.

She also briefed the king on the deliberate and sustained efforts of the school management to create a conducive learning environment, geared towards improving the quality of education for future leaders.

Dr. Adaramola commended Eze Ikegbidi and his Council of Chiefs for the warm reception accorded her and her team. She further pledged to partner with the traditional council, announcing plans to offer free registration as scholarships to some deserving students from Akoh.
