Monarch Cautions Christians On Good Conduct

The traditional ruler of the Igbu Upata Kingdom in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Felix Enene Otuwarikpo, has urged Christians to be role models through their lifestyles.

He stated this during the visit of Bishop of Ahoada Diocese (Anglican Communion), Bishop Clement Ekpeye and other leaders of the Diocese, to the Ihuaba palace.

The visit came as part of the activities to mark Second Synod of the 5th Session holding at Ihuowo community in the Igbu Upata Kingdom.

The monarch called on Churches to emulate the good virtues of Christ. He warned against lust for material things and other vices that would hinder their relationship with God.

“Therefore, brethren, as Christians, you must endeavour to live your lives for Christ. You must make Jesus Christ the beginning, and the end of your life. Material acquisition can only derail you away from God. Also, you must be mindful of heaven as representatives of Jesus and be sure of a better home after this world. That is heaven at last”

On his part, Bishop of Ekpeye thanked Eze Otuwarikpo for hosting them, stressing that the theme of the Synod which is “Salt and light of the world” is carefully selected to proclaim God’s flock as the light of the world.

“The Bible says we are salt of the world. By this, the Bible means we are the light of the world and we are supposed to be leaders and compass by which the whole world navigates. We are supposed to provide leadership, direction and examples in all ramifications. True Christians should make the world tasteful and act as a light.”

He further said that the Diocese plans to build a model secondary school that will mould future leaders, adding that the school when completed will serve as a reference moral support institution.

The Bishop presented Eze Otuwarikpo with a Bible and other Synod materials and urged the people to always support the development of the work of God.
