The Port Harcourt Polo Club’s prestigious grounds came alive with elegance and excitement as the 2026 NPA Port Harcourt International Polo Tournament officially kicked off from January 11 to 17, under the inspiring theme “United By The Game.”
Leading a strong and influential delegation from the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, PHCCIMA President *Dr. Chinyere Nwoga made a commanding presence at the opening ceremony. Accompanying her were notable figures, including the past President *Engr. Dr. Emeka Unachukwu*, Chairman of the Professional Services and Consultancy Trade Group, Chief Emeka Ezekwe, and Financial Secretary Chief Emmanuel Ogbonda.
The PHCCIMA team visited the booth of member company Now Travels, engaging with General Manager/CEO Mrs. Tariboba Memberr, who also serves as Chairperson of the PHCCIMA Trade Missions Desk. The visit underscored the Chamber’s commitment to supporting local businesses and fostering economic ties through high-profile sporting and social events.

This year’s tournament, hosted by the Port Harcourt Polo Club, attracts top players from across Nigeria and internationally, promising thrilling high-goal matches and a celebration of unity through the “Game of Kings.” Key trophies up for grabs include the Rowland Cookey-Gam Cup, King Alfred Diete-Spiff Cup, King T.J.T Princewill Cup, T.Y. Danjuma Cup, Armed Forces Remembrance Cup, President’s Cup, Governor’s Cup, and a special memorial cup honoring the late former club president *Rowland Cookey-Gam, marking 20 years since his passing.
Speaking at the weekend ahead of the event, Port Harcourt Polo Club President Prince Henry Agbodjan emphasized the tournament’s broader mission: “This year’s edition seeks to deepen unity and inclusiveness, bringing together diverse participants and spectators in the spirit of sportsmanship and community.”
The event not only showcases world-class polo action but also features entertainment, a business fair, and networking opportunities, aligning perfectly with PHCCIMA’s goals of promoting trade, investment, and Rivers State’s positive image.
