I Am Disappointed In Rivers State – Tacha

Reality TV star and entrepreneur Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has delivered a scathing assessment of the current political crisis in Rivers State. In a series of viral posts shared today “Port Harcourt First Daughter” expressed deep frustration over the renewed “sounds of war” between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the State House of Assembly, contrasting the state’s stagnation with the growth seen elsewhere in Nigeria.

Tacha’s comments came just hours after the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, officially commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu. The move, which follows allegations of “gross misconduct” and fiscal breaches, has once again paralyzed governance in the oil-rich state.

“Every time you open your phone, it’s one political drama or the other from Rivers State,” Tacha lamented. “When I look at states like Lagos and Abuja and see how they are moving forward, it is heartbreaking to see my home state being wasted on ego battles.” The influencer, who has previously hinted at her own political ambitions to “fix the state from the inside,” questioned why the 2026 budget—meant to drive development—is being used as a pawn in a legislative chess match.

As Port Harcourt residents brace for the seven-day window given to the Governor to respond to the Assembly’s allegations, Tacha’s voice stands as a reminder that the youth are no longer just watching from the sidelines—they are documenting the decay in real-time
