Gov. Fubara Pledges Road Renewal for Eneka, Emphasises Unity at 2025 Eneka Day

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has assured the people of Eneka of his administration’s commitment to restoring critical road infrastructure in the community and preserving its traditional heritage.

The Governor gave the assurance on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, while declaring open the 2025 Eneka Day Celebration held at State Primary School One, Eneka. The event was themed Unity: Our Strength for Progress.”

Governor Fubara urged the people of Eneka to remain united, stressing that unity is essential for attracting meaningful government intervention and sustaining development. He acknowledged the deplorable condition of several internal roads in the community, attributing the damage largely to the movement of heavy-duty trucks diverted during the construction of flyover projects in the area.

While noting the community’s request for the construction of more than 100 internal roads, the Governor pledged that his administration would undertake a reasonable intervention, with priority given to the restoration of major roads within Eneka.

In a major highlight of the event, Governor Fubara issued an executive directive to the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs to commence the formal process for the elevation of Eneka’s traditional stool from second-class to first-class status, describing the move as recognition of the community’s heritage and significance.

He cautioned the community against actions capable of undermining their collective strength, reiterating that unity makes it easier for government support to be delivered without internal disputes.

Also speaking, Senator John Azuta-Mbata affirmed the Eneka people’s support for Governor Fubara and commended the appointment of Eze Chike Worlu Wodo as Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers.

In his remarks, Chairman of the Community Caretaker Committee (CTC), Lawson Chukwu, thanked the Governor for ongoing infrastructure projects and reaffirmed the community’s loyalty to the administration.

Chairman of the occasion, George Chibuozu, described the celebration as a platform for promoting unity, human capital and infrastructural development in Eneka.
