The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of her Bayelsa State counterpart, Senator Lawrence Ewhurudjakpo.
In a condolence message issued from Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Prof. Odu described the passing of Senator Ewhurudjakpo as a profound loss that has left her “numb and in utter disbelief.”
“I am still in shock and deeply saddened by the untimely departure of my brother and colleague,” she said. “His death is a great loss not only to his immediate family but also to Bayelsa State, the entire Niger Delta region, and the nation at large.”

Prof. Odu described the late Deputy Governor as a dedicated patriot whose contributions to governance and public service will be sorely missed.
She extended her heartfelt condolences to his widow, Mrs. Beatrice Ewhurudjakpo, and the entire family, praying that God grants Senator Ewhurudjakpo eternal rest and gives the family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
