Top Nollywood actress and philanthropist Tonto Dikeh has stirred widespread reactions after sharing an emotional testimony at Streams of Joy International Church, popularly known for its NSPPD prayer movement and led by Pastor Jerry Eze.
During the church service, which was streamed live and later circulated online, the Rivers State-born actress spoke openly about her past struggles and what she described as a deep and lasting spiritual transformation. Her testimony, delivered before a packed congregation, has since trended across social media platforms.
Tonto revealed that she began smoking at the age of 13, describing herself as a “chimney” at the time. She said the habit followed her into adulthood until she experienced what she called a complete deliverance that left her ashamed of her former addiction. According to her, the change was not gradual but decisive.

She also spoke about being freed from masturbation and sexual encounters in dreams, explaining that these experiences had troubled her for years. In addition, the actress disclosed that she once struggled with alcoholism, stating that she could consume up to two bottles of whiskey or vodka daily.
Beyond substance abuse, Tonto highlighted what she described as a “demonic anger” that once controlled her emotions. She told the congregation that she now experiences a level of inner peace she had never known before, a calmness she credits entirely to her renewed faith.
Addressing her spiritual journey, Tonto noted that this was not her first time surrendering her life to Christ. However, she stressed that this time was different. According to her, she understands the covenant she has made with God and believes it is permanent.
Her testimony drew strong reactions online, with many applauding her honesty and vulnerability. Others described the moment as one of the most sincere public confessions the actress has made.
