Terror Concerns Deepen as Rivers Industrialist Calls for Immediate Government Intervention

A Rivers State industrialist and public affairs analyst, Dr. Ile Joseph, has expressed deep concern over what he describes as a growing pattern of terrorist attacks allegedly targeting Christians in parts of Northern Nigeria.

Speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, Dr. Joseph, who hails from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), faulted the Federal Government for what he termed its persistent inability to curb years of deteriorating insecurity. He said Nigerians have shown remarkable patience despite continued attacks that threaten national stability.

The industrialist and Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take urgent and decisive measures to protect lives and property, stressing that security is a fundamental constitutional mandate. He added that if the President is unable to fulfil this responsibility, he should consider stepping aside.

Dr. Joseph also called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to convene a National Emergency Conference to address what he referred to as an ongoing genocidal assault. He said the Church must take a stronger stand in defending vulnerable communities, promoting peace, and supporting victims of violence.

He noted that security remains the foundation for economic growth, youth empowerment, investment inflows, and national unity.

Dr. Joseph warned that failure by government and relevant stakeholders to take swift and pragmatic action could lead to far more catastrophic consequences for the country.

He stressed that no nation can prosper amid fear, instability, and unchecked violence, adding that restoring public confidence in Nigeria’s security architecture has become urgent and critical.
