WhatsApp For Iphone Gets Multi-Account Support

WhatsApp has started testing multi-account support on iPhones, allowing users to add and switch between two accounts on the same app. Previously, users needed the separate WhatsApp Business app to manage a second number. This update marks a major shift for IOS users, who have been requesting this convenience feature for years, especially those who juggle personal and work lines on one device.

The feature, spotted in the latest iOS beta by WABetaInfo, will allow inactive accounts to continue receiving calls and message notifications. Each account requires its own phone number and can be customized with separate privacy and notification settings. This gives users more control and reduces the stress of constantly logging out or relying on unofficial workarounds.

Meta’s other apps already support multiple accounts, and WhatsApp is also working on username features expected in 2026. These additions show Meta is gradually modernizing the platform and aligning WhatsApp with the flexibility users already enjoy on Instagram and Facebook.

Researchers recently explored WhatsApp’s backend using a tool called whatsmeow and found they could check up to 7,000 phone numbers per second without being blocked or rate-limited—raising concerns about enumeration security. While WhatsApp has not officially responded to report, experts say that the platform may introduce tighter protections as it continues rolling out new updates and expanding its infrastructure.
