The Nigerian Police Force ( NPF), FCT Command has debunked reports of an assassination attempt on Lieutenant Ahmed Yerima, a naval officer, in Abuja. The police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, called the claims false and warned that they could cause unnecessary panic. According to the statement, no such incident has been reported or recorded in the Federal Capital Territory.
Earlier reports claimed that naval officer, Lt. Ahmed Yerima, was targeted in an alleged assassination attempt yesterday. The incident supposedly occurred while he was being followed from NIPCO Filling Station on the Line Expressway to Gado Nasco Way in Abuja.
“The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications circulating on social media alleging an attempted assassination on Lt. Ahmed Yerima. The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory. The public is advised to disregard this false information and desist from spreading unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic.

“For the safety of all residents, the Command urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Division. The altercation between Lt. Ahmed Yerima and the Minister of FCT, Minister Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, over the development of landed property allegedly owned by the former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, was earlier reported on the The Port City News, with the Minister explaining why he visited the land.
