More Defection Hits Bayelsa PDP As Murray-Bruce Joins APC, Cites Confidence in Tinubu’s Leadership

Former Nigerian senator and businessman, Ben Murray-Bruce, has officially declared his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and economic vision for Nigeria.

In a statement on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Murray-Bruce commended what he described as the president’s economic reforms, calling them a critical foundation for long-term national prosperity.

He eulogised what he termed Tinubu’s unique understanding of finance and his commitment to a free-market economy.

According to him, “for the first time in our history, we have a president who truly understands the economy not as a slogan, but as a living system that must be disciplined, deregulated, and allowed to thrive.”

Highlighting supposed efforts to stabilize the naira and rebuild investor confidence, Murray-Bruce praised the professional leadership at the Central Bank of Nigeria. He also lauded the administration’s strides in national security, noting that recent reforms, especially the appointment of a new National Security Adviser have quietly strengthened Nigeria’s security architecture.

Murray-Bruce noted that his decision to join the APC was motivated by a desire to support meaningful progress, not partisan politics.

“I choose to stand with reform. I choose to stand with the future. Phenomenal growth for Nigeria over the course of Tinubu’s projected eight-year term.

The announcement has sparked wide political debate, with many interpreting it as a major endorsement of President Tinubu’s policy direction and leadership style.
