The Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (FCMS) at Rivers State University (RSU) has announced plans to host its first International Conference, themed “Shifting Paradigms: Inclusive and Innovative Communication in the Era of Digital Disruption.”
The three-day event, scheduled for Wednesday, 15th to Friday, 17th, October 2025, at the University’s Port Harcourt campus, is expected to attract more than 200 scholars, media practitioners, and researchers from across Nigeria and other countries.
According to the organisers, the conference will feature over 100 academic papers presented across four thematic areas: Communication, Ethics and Culture in the Digital Era; Digital Communication, Democracy and Development; Storytelling, Strategy and Ethics in Digital Communication; and Digital Disruption, Health and Society.

Organisers described the conference as more than just an academic exercise, saying it represents “a movement to redefine communication for development, innovation, and inclusion,” as the faculty positions itself at the forefront of emerging global communication trends.
