The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has publicly intervened to denounce a fabricated “wanted” notice that had been spread across various social media platforms, falsely implicating renowned Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo.
The force has categorically labeled the viral document as a complete fabrication, urging the public to disregard the misleading information.
The fraudulent notice, which gained significant traction online, alleged to have been issued by the Office of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit.
It featured the actress’s details and image, creating a false impression of her being sought by authorities. In a swift response, the NPF moved to clarify the situation and maintain the integrity of its official communications.

Through an official post on its verified Facebook page, the law enforcement agency provided a clear denial of the rumor. The statement explicitly confirmed that the notice in question did not originate from any department within the Nigeria Police Force and had never been published on any of its official or authorized platforms.
The police communication stressed the critical importance of information verification in the digital age. It reminded citizens of the dangers of spreading unverified news and specifically advised the public to cross-check any such claims exclusively through the NPF’s official communication channels before sharing or reacting.
The statement read, “FAKE NEWS ALERT! This ‘WANTED’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force. It is false, misleading & was never posted on any official NPF platform. Disregard & stop spreading fake news.”
The statement emphasized this as the most effective way to combat the spread of misinformation and prevent public confusion. The force’s decisive action aims to curb the circulation of the fake alert and protect individuals from the potential harm caused by such malicious online content.
