Ex-Eagles Striker Ideye Announced Retirement From Football

Former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has officially declared his retirement from professional football, marking the conclusion of an extraordinary career that lasted nearly two decades across Europe, Asia, and Africa.

‎The 36-year-old forward shared the news through a heartfelt message on his social media accounts, expressing his gratitude to God, his family, his supporters, and everyone who played a role in his journey.

‎”After considerable reflection and with mixed emotions, I have chosen to retire from professional football. First and foremost, I want to thank God for the talent and the lengthy career I have experienced,” Ideye stated in his announcement.

‎The former West Bromwich Albion and Dynamo Kyiv striker took this moment to express his appreciation for his loved ones, recognizing their support throughout the ups and downs of his career.

‎”I am grateful to my family and friends for their unwavering love, support, and understanding to this day. This game has shaped me and provided me with everything — immense joy, challenging days, the chance to travel and explore the world, lifelong friendships, and countless unforgettable memories.”

‎Ideye, who was part of Nigeria’s victorious squad in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, had a distinguished club career, representing teams such as Sochaux, Dynamo Kyiv, Aris Thessaloniki, Malaga, and Tianjin Teda in China, among others.

To all the sports journalists who dedicated countless hours covering and showcasing my career, I am deeply grateful.”
