6 Division Nigerian Army combat proficiency competition 2025 has been kicked off with a fitness race held at Port Harcourt Headquarters, Rivers State.Other activities lined up for competition include map reading, battle swimming, Skills and arms shooting as well as obstacle crossing.
The General Officer commanding GOC 6 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Eric-Emekah while declaring the event open explained that the event holds a profound significance not only as a testament to the gallant ability of officers but also a critical reflection of their operational readiness and effectiveness.
The GOC represented by the Division Training Officer, Brigadier General Maikarfi Ishaya-Ibrahim noted that the event which was marked by rigorous trainings encompassed both physical mentorship and teamwork.
“The journey to combat proficiency is a challenging one, Through your perseverance and teamwork, you have honed your skills and prepared to face any challenges.In the dynamic and ever-evolving landscape of modern warfare, the ability to adapt and overcome difficulties in the face of new ever-evolving threats has become increasingly crucial.

As officer’s of this Division, you are the guardians of our nation’s most vital asset within the South South Region of the country, tasked with securing our national infrastructure, protection of lives and properties.The skills you will showcase today are not merely recreational; they are the cornerstones of your survival and the success of your missions”GOC stated.
Earlier in an address of welcome, the host, commander 6, Division Garrison, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed represented by Deputy Director Works, Headquarters 46 Engineering Brigade
Lt. Col. Thomas Obegu urged the participants to embody good sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play.
He stated “This competition goes beyond winning; it is about fostering esprit de cor
ps and preparedness to face any adversary.I commend the organizing committee, instructors, coaches, umpires and participants for their outstanding preparations in making this happen”.
Participants for the competition were drawn from 4 formations comprised of 6 Division Garrison, 16 Brigade, 2 Brigade and 63 Brigade.
