Rivers State Government Denies Disbursement Of Interest-Free Loan

The committee set up by the Rivers State Government to give interest-free loans to young entrepreneurs in Rivers State, has come out to deny reports that the scheme has commenced.

A Member of the committee and Special Adviser to the Governor on political matters, Emeh Glory Emeh, denied speculations that the disbursement has begun and that it has been hijacked.

Emeh Glory Emeh said the scheme which is intended to help young business owners to stay in business and do business in Rivers State, is not a political tool.

“Our Chairman, the Honorable Chukuwemeka Onowu, Honorable Commissioner for special duties has directed me to let the public know that the forms are yet to be out, so anybody who is distributing the form to the public is doing so at his own peril.

“At the appropriate time, the forms will be given out to the public. We advise the general public to discountenance any form that anybody is circulating at the moment, that it is not from the committee”

The loan committee also said that the committee will not deal with anybody through proxy or representatives, or through heads of markets or groups and that the committee will be transparent to the people of Rivers State, so as to make sure the loans are meant for those it was designed for.
