The Administrator of Obio/Akpor LGA, Dr. Ndu Walter, hosted a strategic meeting in preparation for the Rivers State Local Government Elections scheduled for August 30, 2025, by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, speaking during the meeting, conveyed the directives of Rivers State Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, on strict compliance with electoral guidelines.
He called for improved sanitation within the LGA and urged security personnel to address indiscriminate waste disposal.
The Commissioner urged the Administrator of Obio/Akpor LGA to convene a broader stakeholder meeting to further sensitise stakeholders and ensure peaceful and crisis-free elections.

He assured that security agencies were fully prepared to provide adequate coverage for the polls.

In his remarks, Dr. Walter emphasised that security is the foundation of societal well-being, as safety must be secured before economic activities can thrive.
He described Obio/Akpor as a peaceful LGA and pledged that elections would be conducted with fairness, free from violence or rancour.
The Administrator announced plans to soon bring together all stakeholders—CDCs, women leaders, youth groups, traditional rulers, and political representatives for a comprehensive pre-election sensitisation exercise.
In a vote of thanks, Council Secretary, Hon. Ezebunwo Ogbonda Felix, commended the security agencies for their proactive role in ensuring election readiness and overall safety, wishing them a safe return to their respective stations.
