Ubi Franklin Denies Allegations of Theft During Davido’s Wedding

Nigerian entertainment industry figure Ubi Franklin has publicly responded to circulating rumours alleging his involvement in the theft of a high-end timepiece during his recent trip to Miami for Davido’s wedding festivities. The claims, which emerged on digital platforms earlier this week, prompted the music entrepreneur to issue a detailed clarification regarding the circumstances.

In an extended social media post, Franklin categorically denied any wrongdoing while revealing he was navigating both celebratory and sombre life events simultaneously.

His statement read in part: “I am currently aware of the recent circulation on social media linking my name to an alleged theft. I wish to make it clear that these allegations are completely false and misleading.”

The Triple MG founder provided context about his recent travels, explaining: “Recently, I returned from my dear Friend/sister’s wedding, and I am currently preparing for my sister’s funeral this coming weekend. It is an extremely difficult and sensitive time for me and my family, but I feel it is important to address this matter directly.”

Franklin detailed his interactions with an individual named Benny during the Miami trip, stating that he had been presented with a watch purchase opportunity, which he ultimately declined after careful consideration. He described a subsequent transaction where he acquired a different timepiece through proper channels.

“While in Miami, Benny met me and offered to sell me a wristwatch. After reviewing the item and confirming its previous ownership, I decided not to purchase it in order to avoid any potential complications,” Franklin explained. “During the wedding church service, Benny sent his brother another wristwatch to m,e which I had purchased and paid in full.”

“I want to state clearly: I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone in my life,” Franklin asserted. “Benny had earlier in the day debunked this news, and yet it still kept spreading.”

The entertainment executive emphasised the chaotic nature of wedding events as contributing to the misunderstanding, noting he had temporary possession of both watches before departing Miami abruptly due to family obligations. He expressed dismay that the allegations persisted despite earlier clarification from the accuser.
