Amaechi Rallies Supporters, Declares Readiness For 2027 Election Battle

Former Governor of Rivers State and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has charged his supporters and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State to brace up for what he described as a political contest against “merchants of election results” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

AMAECHI made the statement during his arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omuagwa, where he was received by a crowd of supporters. He accused some political actors in the state of being known for manipulating election outcomes, challenging his followers to be prepared to resist and match such actions in the upcoming polls.

The former Minister declared that the ADC had come to Rivers State to bring happiness and relief to the people, adding that widespread hunger and frustration under the current administration of President Bola Tinubu is a clear sign of failed leadership.

“If the people are not tired, I am. I am tired of this government and ready to vote it out so we can restore good governance,” Ameachi stated.

In an interview with journalists, Amaechi, who is also the leader of the South-South Coalition, reiterated his commitment to supporting any candidate who emerges through a transparent presidential primary.

He emphasized that the ultimate goal of the coalition is to entrench good governance across Nigeria.

Meanwhile, a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Azubuike Wanjoku, expressed confidence in Amaechi’s leadership, stating that the people of Rivers have long awaited the emergence of a new political movement.

“Rivers people are solidly behind Rotimi Amaechi. The desire for change is strong, and the people are ready to take their destiny into their own hands,” WANJOKU said.

Our correspondent reports that after his arrival, Amaechi led a procession to the ADC State Secretariat at Rukpokwu, where he addressed party members. He urged them to begin massive membership registration and promised to establish a committee to oversee the exercise.
