DHRD Demands 6 Months Administration Report From Ibas

Ibas

The Defence for Human Rights and Democracy (DHRD) has demanded a detailed explanation from the outgoing Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok Ete Ibas, on how he spent the resources of the state during the six months he ruled the state as sole administrator.

Ibas, a retired Navy Vice Admiral, was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as Sole Administrator on March 18 for an initial period of six months after the president declared an emergency rule in the state and suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu and the members of the state House of Assembly.

It is becoming clear that Ibas will not stay in the state Brick House beyond this September, as transition activities have been rolled out to usher in Siminalayi Fubara to continue as the governor of the state.

A statement signed on Sunday, September 14, by the National Chairman of DHRD, Comrade Clifford Christopher Solomon and made available to our correspondent, the group also urged Ibas to tell Rivers people the projects he awarded and completed during his reign as Sole Administrator.

He said: “The Defence For Human Rights And Democracy (DHRD) demands a detailed account of stewardship from the outgoing appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ete Ibas, to the people of the state.

“Mr. Ibas should use the remaining days left to give a blow-by-blow account on what was received from the Federal Allocation, Internally Generated Revenue and other sundry funds that came to the state and how the money was expended.

“It is also very imperative for the Sole Administrator to tell Rivers people the projects executed, completed, ongoing and commissioned in the six months of his reign.

“DHRD equally demands that the Sole Administrator opens up to the people of the state on how much is left in the coffers of the state and banks, which could be verified.

“This unambiguous demand by DHRD will foster transparency, accountability, probity and end the suspicion of looting Rivers’ treasury.”
