Nigeria Achieves 35% Reduction in Cross-Border Fuel Diversion – DAPPMAN

The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) reported a 35% reduction in cross-border fuel diversion, thanks to stricter anti-smuggling efforts by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

DAPPMAN’s Executive Secretary, Olufemi Adewole, stated on Monday that the NMDPRA’s strategic regulatory approach has led to “stability, innovation, energy access, and continuing growth” within the sector. He added that the NMDPRA’s leadership has improved operational efficiency, product availability, and investor confidence.

Adewole praised the NMDPRA, led by Farouk Ahmed, for its transformative work. DAPPMAN expressed its commitment to supporting the agency in achieving sustainability and enhancing access to quality energy solutions nationwide.

DAPPMAN also acknowledged the NMDPRA’s efforts to foster a competitive market, enhance energy security, and encourage innovation in response to global market challenges.

Adewole further noted that the NMDPRA’s interventions, along with collaborations with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and other stakeholders, have significantly reduced fuel scarcity, ensuring a consistent national supply. He highlighted that Nigeria’s recent petrol sufficiency marks a notable improvement.
