Stay Off Internet Fraud – Cleric Urges Nigerian Youths

A Clergyman, Reverend Godswill Stewart, has urged Nigerian youths’ to completely stay off internet fraud and other criminal activities, and focus on education, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Speaking with newsmenn in Port Harcourt on the dangers of the scourge and its implications on both the youths and the society, Rev Stewart, admonished the youths’ of today who are the leaders of tomorrow to stand their ground, and be determined to create a productive and brighter future for themselves and Nigeria, their blessed country.

According to him, ” Let Nigerian youths join forces together with each other to reject, in its entirety, cultism, internet fraud, money laundering, drug abuse, child trafficking, oil bunkering, prostitution, illegal oil refineries, economic sabotage, among others.

“Together, you guys can promote education, innovation and entrepreneurship, foster a culture of integrity, transparency and accountability. I urge you all to support one another in making positive life choices, and build a society that values hard work, excellence, merit and patriotism,” Rev Godswill Stewart said.

The servant of God noted that Nigerian youths are important stakeholders in the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes. He maintained that they must stay focused on building their capacities and on the path of ethical behaviour.

While expressing concern on youths’ involvement in cybercrimes, he declared that, “There is no virtue in deceit, no honour in impersonation and no sustainable wealth in stealing from others. Youths, as nation-builders, can never move forward in life when they turn into business breakers instead of becoming business-builders.

“One thing is certain: education, innovativeness, entrepreneurial skills, and team spirit remain pathways to enduring success”.

Rev Godswill Stewart further stressed that the reputation issues we are having globally are hideous, noting that besides, our youths’ are losing their sense of values and dignity to internet fraud. He maintained that Nigerian youths’ should redirect their talents, skills to sustainable ventures and means of livelihood, by imitating the positive strides of other youths’ around the globe.

The cleric posited that social vices, such as cultism, cyber crimes, drug abuse, child trafficking and economic sabotage, are not isolated issues; they are symptoms of deeper societal problems. Our youths demand a united front, prompt and coordinated response from the government at all levels, and other relevant authorities to tackle”, he said.

Rev Godswill Stewart blamed this, on myriad of problems Nigeria is facing currently, which he said, is sequel to corruption.

On youths’ empowerment, Rev Godswill Stewart, admonished government at all levels to immediately promote positive and productive activities for them, to enable do away with the dreaded scourge for a proactive and responsible youths’.

Concerning proper education, he pointed out that educating youths’ on the risks and consequences of internet fraud by government and other stakeholders became imperative for their future growth and development.
