Port Harcourt Residents Decry Five Months of Power Outage

‎Residents of Woko Street in Rumuolumeni Community in Port Harcourt have lamented the prolonged electricity blackout that has disrupted social economic life in the area. Speaking to our correspondent, a resident of Woko Street Mrs. Blessing Iyingi called on the relevant authorities to intervene urgently and provide a lasting solution to the matter.

‎”For how many months now no light, they just feel less concern. They don’t want to do anything about it. We are tired of complaining”

‎A trader who gave her name as Mrs ChiChi decried the huge amount of money spent on providing alternative source of power to run her business urged Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC to fix public power supply without delay.

‎”Since I came to this area, it has been a challenge that there is no light, the frozen chicken that i am selling has not been going so well, customers have not been coming and when they manage to buy they will say the thing is not frozen.”

‎”To even buy fuel to use for the market, it’s a challenge, you know fuel has gone up and to be able to buy fuel everyday for frozen chicken business is somehow for me, Since five months no light in this area.”

‎A staff of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company who spoke anonymously gave the assurance that the fault will be fixed soonest.
