Residents Call for Establishment of Fire Service in Omoku as Fire Destroys Goods Worth Millions

Residents of Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area have called for the establishment of a fire service following a fire outbreak that destroyed goods worth millions of Naira along Omoku-Obrikom Road, opposite Sancta Maria High School.

According to multiple sources, the inferno, which was said to have commenced on Wednesday at 3 a.m., affected many shops around the building, noting that a large portion of a boutique and a warehouse containing about 200 motorcycles were razed.

Oburu, one of the sources, said, “It’ was around 3am this morning we tried our best to off the fire but it was much for human ability. Omoku need a fire service office right now.

“Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni has no fire service office to rescue this kind of situation, pls federal government should get ONELGA fire service office,” he reemphasized.

Furthermore, he claimed that the cause of the fire was an electrical fault, which spread rapidly before being contained by locals.

Affected members who lost their goods to the inferno are calling for support from the Rivers State Government as investigation is ongoing.

Another resident, Maicon Ojum, claimed that the incident was a sabotage orchestrated by envious enemies, noting that as of Tuesday the motorcycle dealer had offloaded 300 motorcycles into his warehouse.

“I saw it myself and suspected an enemy might have orchestrated this inferno just to commercially suppress the victim.”

A source confirmed that there were no casualties.
