We only chased out evil traditional doctors, OSPAC clarifies

The ONELGA Security Peace and Advisory Committee, popularly known as OSPAC has come out to say that it is a misconception to say that the local security outfit chased all traditional doctors out of ONELGA.

To put the records straight, OSPAC said it only ordered the evil traditional doctors who are into crime and criminality to leave ONELGA, maintaining that every genuine person has the right to reside in ONELGA.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Secretary-General of OSPAC, Comrade Eze Gift Ohia said the eviction directives did not only affect criminal traditional doctors but also affect indecent dressing mainly perpetrated by youths.

He said, “I want to clarify some of the misconceptions and misinterpretations on the issues surrounding the recent proclamation in ONELGA. What really happened was that the Omoku City Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs gave directives duly signed by its chairman and secretary.

“The directives were to curtail the indecent dressing by our females and males. On the street, you will see people dressing half naked.

“On the part of the traditional doctors and herbalists, what is going on here is too bad. A lot of them came in here, flooding our land with charms (juju). Some of them are into killings, including rituals.

“There was a time we caught one young man and we found a native pot in his house filled with contraceptive (condom). What are the condoms for? And who used them? It was on such reason he was asked to leave the area and he left till date.

“A lot of the traditional doctors are into organ harvesting and it is in excess in our communities today as I speak with you. However, we did not say that every-person should go and we are not against traditional doctors except the ones that are criminally minded.

“The period they chased these traditional doctors from the South-East geopolitical zone, they flooded Omoku and a committee has been set up to look into their activities so that those who are not genuine will leave.

“No place that traditional doctors don’t stay but we are against the ones that are into rituals and other evil things. Omoku is a respected community and we can not fold our arms and watch evil happening.

“Nobody deprives anybody of his right to reside in ONELGA but nobody will welcome anybody who will come here to destroy our communities.”
