The Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the sole administrator of Ahoada East LGA, Comrade Ekeakita Hector Chinem, said the security of the area has improved since the state was subjected to emergency rule by President Bola Tinubu.
The LGA CSO also condemned the recent protest by some women in the area against the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), insisting that the women were induced with N25,000 each to carry out the protest.
Hector said: “The people of Ahoada are living their normal lives and respecting the rule of law, which has brought about a low rate of crime. Although not everybody must like the emergency rule but I do not see any negative effect it has brought on the lives of the people of Ahoada.
Here in Ahoada East, it has increased calmness. The protest that took place recently by some women in Ahoada was not the mindset of entire women, especially those who protested naked. They come from my maternal home, which is the home of the immediate past deputy chairman of my LGA. The women were paid N25,000 each to protest naked.
What they did is taboo to our tradition, and it carries a hereditary curse. Our tradition forbids using the nakedness of our mothers to make money, which is what they did. I was expecting our royal fathers and the custodians of our tradition to speak out. We, the people of Ekpeye, condemn the luring of our mothers to protest against the state’s Sole administrator.”

Ahoada East used to be a blackspot for barbaric crimes mainly orchestrated by notorious cultists. It was in Ahoada that a serving Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, was brutally killed by cultists, with his dismembered body displayed on social media.
Though since the declaration of a state of emergency in the state, news of kidnappings and killings from the Ahoada axis of the state had not been heard, nor reported.
But since Ibas became the Sole Administrator of the state, protests against emergency rule by different groups and genders had been one too many, which is an indicator that the people of the state did not holistically welcome the way and manner with which their Governor, Siminalayi Fubara was suspended by the president.
