Rivers NYSC Health Initiative Excites Rural Dwellers In Etche

Natives and residents of the Okehi community in the Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State have highly commended the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Rivers State, over its Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers HIRD.

Okehi Traditional Ruler, Chief Francis Ukachi, thanked the DG NYSC, Brig Gen Olakunle Nafiu, the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, staff, and corps members for the choice of his community to carry out the exercise.

Ukachi described the outreach as a huge and great honor and assured the management of the scheme that going forward, his people will redouble their commitment in supporting the programmes and activities of the NYSC.

The royal father promised that the Okehi community would “offer increased hospitality, security and welfare of corps members posted to them.”

Also, the Head of Local Government Administration HLGA of Etche LGA, Mrs. Alice Graham, commended NYSC for what she described as a job well done.

Graham, who was represented by the Director of Education, Mrs. Iye Iche, extolled the management of the scheme “for the great job they are doing in uniting and integrating the country.”

She described the NYSC scheme as “a harbinger of hope, solution provider and strategic in rendering essential services to Nigerians.”

Declaring the 2025 1st quarter HIRD in the state open, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe represented by the Assistant Director Community Development Service (CDS), Mr. Barnax Uloneme, informed the people of Okehi community that the initiative “is an ingenious innovation of the scheme designed to bring quality and affordable health care to the door steps of the poorest of the poor in the society.”

He enjoined the people to harken to “expert medical advice and instructions during the health sensitization and take full advantage of the exercise to improve their health and wellness.”

The event, which was held at Etche Local Government Council Secretariat, had in attendance the Okehi Community Development Committee CDC Chairman, Dr. Power Nwala, an opinion leader, Chief Mike Nwankwo, as well as NYSC staff and corps medical personnel.
