⁩CAF Ranking Drops Again: Rivers United Shines

Rivers United is the sole Nigerian club ranked among the top 30 teams in Africa, according to the latest CAF Club rankings. The rankings, updated after the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, place Rivers United 24th on the continent with 14 points.

Al Ahly continues to dominate African football, topping the rankings with an impressive 78 points. The Egyptian giant’s consistent performance in continental competitions has solidified its position as one of the best teams in Africa.

Rivers United’s ranking is a testament to their growing strength in African football. As the only Nigerian team in the top 30, they have a responsibility to uphold and continue to make the country proud in continental competitions.

The top five teams in the latest CAF Club rankings are:

1. Al Ahly (Egypt): 78 points, dominating African football.

2. Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) and Esperance (Tunisia): 57 points, both teams looking strong in the continent.

3. Simba (Tanzania): 43 points.

4. Zamalek (Egypt): 42 points.

In West Africa, ASEC Mimosas from Côte d’Ivoire leads the pack at 12th place with 33 points. Rivers United from Nigeria follows in 24th place with 14 points. Other notable teams in the rankings include:

  • Dream FC (Ghana): 26th place.
  • Stade Malien (Mali): 27th place.
  • Horoya SC (Guinea): 28th place.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ upcoming semi-final match against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League will be crucial in determining their ranking points. With their strong performance, they aim to close the gap with the Egyptian giants.
