The First Lady, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu says collaboration between Renewed Hope Initiative and Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC is aimed at making affordable and reliable healthcare accessible to families and rural communities in Niger Delta region.
Senator Mrs. Tinubu Made this known in Otuasega Bayelsa State, while Flagging off twenty Twenty-five NDDC cum Renewed Hope Initiatives’ Free Medical outreaches, Inauguration of NDDC built secondary School, renovated Otuasega Cottage Hospital with medical equipment, donation of eleven Ambulances to Hospitals in nine states of the region among others.
Over two million residents of Niger Delta region have benefitted from Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC’s free medical Programme since inception with over five hundred outreaches done in the mandate states.
The collaboration between NDDC and the Renewed Hope Initiative of the first lady is significant in that the outreach, which was done annually, would henceforth take place twice a year.
Part of the event was the inauguration of the renovated Otuasega Cottage Hospital with various medical equipment, the Donation of one hundred KVA Soundproof generators, Sixty KVA Solar Power,a Digital Colour Doppler Ultrasound System, Specialized Personal Protecting Equipment (PPE) Kits,
books, and school desks.



Speaking at the event, the First Lady, her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, explained that NDDC’s Free medical outreach aligns with the Renewed Hope Initiative, especially with Maternal and child healthcare.
Senator Mrs. Tinubu stated that the focus on education and health by NDDC agrees with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President to ensure affordable education and healthcare for the nation.
On his part, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, who recalled his time in the senate with the first Lady, appreciated NDDC and the Renewed Hope Initiative for building the secondary school and renovating the Hospital for the use of the Bayelsa people.
Governor Diri Pledged willingness of the state Government to collaborate with NDDC to facilitate development of Niger Delta region.
Addressing the gathering, Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC Dr. Samuel Ogbuku noted that the partnership with Renewed Hope Initiative was to ensure good health delivery for residents of the region, transversing all the mandate states.



The Managing Director told the people that as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, the commission has been involved in project inauguration in Delta, Rivers, ABIA, Imo and Bayelsa States in preparation for Silver Jubilee of the commission.
In a remark, Minister of Regional Development, Chief Abubakar Momoh emphasized the need for Governors of the region to partner Nwith DDC to enhance development in the region.
Present at the event were Senate and House Committee members on NDDC, Wives of Governors of the region, traditional rulers, women, and youths.
