Conduct Autopsy, Group Begs Rivers Police Over Killing Of Father Of Three Children

The Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign has urged the Rivers State Police command to immediately carry out an autopsy on the corpse of Mr. Ifeanyi Ani.

The group also demanded a thorough and unbiased investigation into the alleged killing of Ani, who hails from Enugu State.

In an interview with TPCN on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, the National President of Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, Mr. Prince Wiro revealed that, “on the alleged killing of the security guard of an eatery, Ifeanyi Ani by a customer in Port Harcourt, we demand a thorough and unbiased investigation by the Police to unravel what led to the security guard death.

“We equally demand that an autopsy should immediately be concluded on the corpse of Ifeanyi Ani, and if the customer is found culpable, he should be made to face the law.”

Further, they expressed their heartfelt condolence to “the wife of the deceased and his three little children for the irreplaceable loss.”

Ani, a father of three children who worked as a security guard in a popular eatery close to Shell Gate in Rumukwurushi, in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state, was allegedly beaten to death by a customer last Thursday.

The deceased security guard, while on duty, was allegedly killed trying to correct a customer who parked his car and left his head lamp on.

Reports revealed that when Ani approached the car, he found the customer’s wife inside the vehicle and pleaded with her to dim the head lamp.

While the discussion was going on, the woman’s husband allegedly walked out of the eatery and demanded to know what he(the security man) was telling his wife.

The discussion between Ani and the man was said to have resulted in an altercation; the man allegedly became aggressive and punched the security guard several times, which was said to have led to his collapse and eventual death.

Though the customer has been arrested and handed over tothe Mini-Okoro Police Division, the family of the deceased has not relented in their demand for justice.
