The chief Imam made this known to our correspondent shortly after the Eid prayer on Sunday, which marked the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan.
You recall that the Tinubu-led federal government recently imposed an emergency rule on Rivers State and suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Prof Ngozi Odu, and the lawmakers of the state House of Assembly for six months.
Alhaji Hassan further used the medium to commend the Traditional Ruler of Elem Kalabari, King Dokubo Asari, for providing security and economic support to Muslims during the period of the Ramadan fast, while praying Allah to continue blessing and protecting King Asari.
The Chief imam was quoted as saying that: “Government should always look out for the establishment of peace among its citizens. The government can not achieve what it wants to achieve whether economically or politically, if peace does not stand fixed in that particular environment.

“What we see today happening in Rivers State is actually the opposite of peace. So, my advice to the federal government is to let democracy run smoothly. FG should allow the people to decide the leaders that would govern them and avoid using force to remove an elected governor like in the case of Rivers State.
“We are really grateful to King Dokubo Asari, who has made sure that peace reigns in this environment where we have our mosque. Such has enhanced peaceful interaction and co-existence among the people here.
“King Asari has immensely contributed to the growth and expansion of Islam, especially in this part of the world. Outside providing security, he has also provided food and other basic necessities of life to underprivileged people to make sure that happiness and good mood are in the minds of the multitude of Muslims in this region.
“People came from different places to take part in the Eid prayer with us and even before now, people were coming to pray the night prayer in this mosque during the fast and apart from that, people came here to break their fast everyday at evening.
“They were provided with the breaking of fast meal and other food to eat. In fact, this gesture made it easier for Muslims to be able to carryout their fasting successfully during Ramadan. This has been one of King Asari’s main contributions to the Islamic development in this part of the region because without this kind of support, people will not have it easy to carryout this important Islamic pillar called fasting.
“For these reasons and many others, we pray to Allah to continue to bless, guide, and protect King Asari. May Allah give him a long life and prosperity. May Allah help and protect him during challenges and make him successful and victorious in the end. Amin!”
