Gunmen kill three in Rivers Community

Gunmen suspected to be cultists on Wednesday 12 April 2023 invaded the Ubeta community in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State and murdered three persons.

The killing comes barely seventy-two hours after two Shop owners Chimezie Nagbo and one other person were kidnapped in the community on Monday 10, April,,2023.

The Paramount Ruler of the Ubeta community, Chief Million Jonathan, Paramount Ruler of in an interview with our Correspondent confirmed the incidents, noting not all the three persons killed were cultists.

He explained that the two shop owners who were kidnapped are neighbours and nothing has been heard about them as the kidnappers are yet to make contact with the community or family members of the victim.

Chief Jonathan claimed that such incident has been happening for months now with no Intervention of the Government or security agencies, stressing that many natives have deserted the community.

The Paramount Ruler further lamented that some of the Youth of the community perpetrating the evil act, had earlier sworn an oath of repentance. Adding that the community is surprised to see some of the Youth go back to committing crimes.

He maintained that the community is willing to train any of the warring Youth in skill acquisition if the person shuns criminality while calling on the Government to come to their aid.

He however said he has not personally reported the latest incidents to the Police but has sent someone to do so on his behalf in PortHarcourt.

The Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko when contacted said no official report has been made to the Police on the incident.
