The All Progressives Congress Party (APC) in Rivers State has raised alarm over alleged plots by police in Rivers State, principally coordinated by a few tactical teams under the command C4i unit to begin a manhunt for members of the APC.

The APC also condemned the arrest of lawyers handling its matters for candidates who are bent on reclaiming their mandates regarding the just concluded general elections in the state.

Those arrested were Jerry Aondo, Sobere Nelson, Odum Eyiba, Peter Ohohukwu, Johnson Serwini, Amayiebi George, Clinton Amadi, and Emmy Daforo.

In a statement, the Publicity Secretary of APC, Darlington Nwauju revealed the party has credible intelligence that the police in connivance with members of the PDP, wants to arrest APC candidates especially House of Assembly candidates who are determined to reclaim their mandates through the constitution.

Nwauju said the move is in order to frustrate the push for candidates to reclaim their alleged stolen mandate, saying that the latest strategy is emblematic of the serial illegality, conspiracy, intimidation, and harassment that the opposition political parties have had to face and have continued to face under the despotic reign of the outgoing Government.

The statement warned the police in the state to stop the open display of partisanship which was brought to the fore on 25 February and 18 March 2023, when the free will of Rivers people to voluntarily pick their representatives and Governor was scuttled by the INEC and the police force.

He maintained that no amount of threats, harassment, or intimidations can deter the party from reclaiming all the mandates freely given to the APC by Rivers people, as they are already aware that the INEC is struggling to provide pieces of evidence of the elections it claimed to have perfectly conducted in the state on the 25 February and March 18, 2023.
