2023 election: CAN urges youths to resist vote buying

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has advised Nigerian youths to resist vote buying and selling during the 2023 general elections.

CAN charged the youths to be courageous and stand against bribery during the elections, NAN reports.

The call was made by the Secretary General of CAN Youth Wing (YOWICAN), Joseph Daramola, at a youth conference in Abuja on Sunday.

He said: “Be courageous. If anybody wants to bribe you, say no! If anybody wants you to sell your vote, say no!

“You have the right to make sure you do what you need to do and be courageous about it.”

Speaking on the issue of the All Progressives Congress’ Muslim-Muslim ticket, Damarola noted that parties have the right to choose whomever they prefer.

“As Christians and youth leaders, we have to urge our people to go out and vote their conscience.”

He expressed optimism that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would fulfill its assurance of fairness while urging Nigerians to get their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and vote massively during the elections.
