Newly inaugurated family court will make our work easier – Says Rivers FIDA

The Rivers State branch of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has expressed gladness over the inauguration of a family court, saying that the court would make its work easier.

The court was inaugurated by Governor Nyesom Wike as a special court to give quick and speedy dispensation of justice to child-related matters.

Speaking on the significance of the court to the body of women lawyers, the state chairperson of FIDA, Adata Bio-Briggs told our correspondent that the court is a child-friendly court.

According to her, “the court is in charge of the child Justice system

“The court is going to ensure that the child gets all that is needed when it comes to child justice

“The primary thing in this court is the best interest of the child and anything that concerns the child

“Whether the child is in conflict with the law, an abused child or the child is at risk; this court is perfect for the child.

“This court will ensure that the child gets speedy access to justice.

“FIDA is happy with this court because it will make our work much easier as we now have a court we can go to, and be sure of quick and easy dispensation of justice.

“In this court, everything will be at the best interest of the child because it is a child-friendly court.”
