A Prominent Niger Delta Activist Anabs Sara-Igbe has called on the federal government to publish the report of the forensic audit earlier conducted on the finances of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC.

Anabs Sara-Igbe said this while reacting to the sack of the Interim Administrator of NDDC EFFIONG Akwa by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said the federal government should publish the report before inaugurating a new board for the NDDC.

Anabs Sara-Igbe who is also the National Coordinator of the South-South Elders Forum said publishing the report will enable Niger Deltans to evaluate the projects executed by the commission and the ones they failed to complete.

He further said the report will enable the people of the Niger Delta to know those pillaging the commonwealth of the oil-bearing communities.

“The Niger Delta people want to know who are those people impoverishing them, who are those refusing to carry out the projects they have been awarded to. How much has been paid to these people and what is happening to the money. We all want to know. It’s common knowledge that NDDC at a time was used as a political basket where you can just go take whatever you like for politics rather than developing the oil-bearing communities”.

“And as we speak, the NDDC has not been able to carry out its statutory function of alleviating the sufferings of the oil-bearing communities for which it was set up. And so everybody wants to know what happens to the forensic audit. The forensic audit will be an eye opener, what projects they have carried out and how they carried them out” he said.

The Niger Delta Activist Anabs Sara-Igbe also said that the decision of the President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Interim Administrator of NDDC EFFIONG AKWA is a welcome development.

He said the appointment of a Sole Administrator to run the NDDC is illegal.

The National Coordinator of South-South Elders Forum ANABS SARA-IGBE also said that the inauguration of the Board of NDDC will enable states to have easy access to the Management Team of the commission.
