Gunmen kill PDP chieftain in Bayelsa

A youth leader and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Odeinyefa Ogbolosingha have allegedly been shot dead by gunmen dressed in Military Camouflage.

It was gathered that the 53 yrs old was killed on Friday, at his residence along the mechanic village area along Edepie-Imiringi road, Asaba, at about 2pm, a few hours after taking his sick wife home from the hospital.

Sources said the assailants numbering three and dressed in military uniforms and masks entered the area by the block of industry street and shot their victim in the head and other parts of his body at close range.

The incident had been said to cause pandemonium in the area as attempts by angry youths to catch the fleeing assailants failed.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, said the Police recieved a distress call on Friday and deployed to the scene.

According to him, “Police operatives responded to a distress call at about 1400 hours on Friday 22 July 2022, that armed men shot on Odeinyefa Ogbolosingha at his residence at Imiringi road, Yenagoa. The victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa for treatment but was confirmed dead. Investigations have commenced”.
