The All Progressives Congress in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State says the arrest and remand of Farah Dagogo were wrong and advised the police as well as the court not to conspire with Governor Nyesom Wike.

Dagogo is a serving member in the House of Representatives and a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The embattled federal lawmaker is currently in police custody, following his arrest by the police and subsequent remand by a court in Port Harcourt.

In a chat with our correspondent, one of the leaders of the APC in Ahoada West, Ajasin Vincent said, “the wrongful arrest and later remand of Dagogo are condemnable.

“The police and the judiciary should not allow themselves to be used by Wike to persecute anybody.

“The governor does not want internal democracy in the state and would stop at nothing to prevent people from exercising their constitutional right of contesting if security agencies and the judiciary conspire with Wike.

“The only sin of Farah Dagogo is the declaration of his intention to contest for the 2023 guber race against the wish of Wike.

“Wike’s action against Dagogo tells you how dictatorial the governor is at the detriment of our democracy.

“We urge the federal government to call Wike to order and prevail on the judiciary and police to release Dagogo unconditionally.”

Vincent further urged Dagogo not to relent in his governorship ambition as he also criticised the PDP for not condemning Wike’s persecution against Dagogo.
