2023: Rivers youth council backs Wike, says 5,000 jobs in view

The Rivers State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has thrown its weight behind Governor Nyesom Wike on his intention to occupy the seat of the President in the 2023 presidential elections.

In a press briefing at the council’s secretariat in Port Harcourt on Thursday, the youths said Wike has proven to have the capacity to drive the nation forward.

Speaking during the briefing, the Chairperson of the NYCN, Chijioke Ihunwo urged Rivers youths to be patient with the state government on its promise of 5,000 jobs.

Ihunwo accused the All Progressives (APC)-led administration of its failure to fulfil the promises it made Nigerians.

He also said that the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, owed citizens an apology over the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna bound train by terrorists.

He maintained that the minister ought to visit the families of those affected by the attack, which claimed many lives, including those held in captivity, adding that it is shocking that the minister was yet to apologise to Nigerians, weeks after the incident.
