NSCDC deploys 1,580 personnel in Rivers ahead of Easter

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command says it has deployed 1,580 tactical forces to 23 local government areas of the state ahead of the Easter celebrations.

A statement signed by the Command’s Spokesperson, Olufemi Ayodele, on Tuesday, said the deployment is in a bid to ensure adequate security of lives and property around the state.

Ayodele said the state commandant, Abu Tambuwal while briefing the officers at the Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt, charged them to carry out their duties with the utmost diligence, alertness and professionalism.

The Commandant, who bemoaned the activities of illegal crude oil refiners, which he described as acts tantamount to economic sabotage, urged the deployed personnel to be “proactive in gathering credible and actionable intelligence.

This, he said, would enhance the eradication of illegal refineries, oil theft, oil bunkering and illegal dealings in petroleum products.

Tambuwal, while wishing residents a happy Easter celebration, expressed the readiness of the NSCDC to strengthen collaborations with the traditional and religious institutions in the fight against criminalities.
