IYC seeks Ijaw governor for Delta, Rivers in 2023

Umbrella body of Ijaw Youths worldwide, the Ijaw Youths Council has called on all stakeholders and political parties in Delta and Rivers State to consider and make an Ijaw man the next Governor of the two respective States come 2023.

The IYC, who made the statement through its national spokesman, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe, said 2023 is the right year for the Riverine Ijaws of Rivers State and the Ijaws in Delta State to lead and govern the two states after 22 years of the current democratic dispensation. He noted that Ijaw’s have sacrificed and supported other tribes in this states in attaining the number one seats.

Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe, who made this known while felicitating with the the foremost former Militant leader in the region, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo also known as Tompolo as he marks 51th birthday, said Ijaw leaders such as Tompolo and many others have contributed to the existing peace, security and development of these two states and the region at large.

He called on the Ijaws to work with all political stakeholders in Delta and Rivers States to convince other leaders of ethnic nationalities on the reasons why the Ijaw indigene needed to become Governor come 2023 in other to promote equity, justice and fairness in the polity of these States and the region.

Comrade Ebilade in his birthday message to High Chief Government Ekpemupolo also known as Tompolo, described him as the tourch bearer for youths in the region.

He pointed out that Tompolo is a confirmed and tested leader with the drive for peace, security, development and freedom of the minorities.

Ekerefe expressed gratitude to God for good health and for the 51th Birthday of Ekpemupolo, noted that Ijaw youths have never being disappointed whenever they decided to approach Tompolo for advice and coordination towards it’s affairs and direction.
